About the Organization
EUTOPIA is an ambitious alliance of 10 like-minded universities ready to reinvent themselves: the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (Romania), the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (Belgium), the Ca'Foscari University of Europe (Italy), CY Cergy Paris Université (France), the Technische Universität Dresden (Germany), the University of Gothenburg (Sweden), the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), the NOVA University Lisbon (Portugal), the University of Pompeu Fabra (Spain) and the University of Warwick (United Kingdom). Together, these 10 pioneers join forces to build the university of the future.
Each university holds several campuses deeply related to their territories. They have built solid ties with their communities, institutional structures, and local companies.
EUTOPIA students, researchers, and staff work together to build a new academic model, reflecting an open and a united Europe, respectful of the citizens and the environment.
About the program
The EUTOPIA Science and Innovation Fellowship Programme (EUTOPIA SIF) is opening the third call for applications to recruit 25 post-doctoral fellows in September 2023.
The EUTOPIA-SIF programme is developed by the EUTOPIA European University, an ambitious Alliance of ten universities, aiming to promote a connected and inclusive academic community, addressing global and local challenges, advancing excellence, inclusion, impact and innovation.
In June 2019, the "EUTOPIA-2050" programme was selected as one of the first Erasmus+ ‘European Universities’ pilot projects, gathering the 6 EUTOPIA-SIF partners: Vrije Universiteit Brussel, CY Cergy Paris University, University of Gothenburg, University of Ljubljana, Pompeu Fabra University-Barcelona, The University of Warwick.
The EUTOPIA Alliance was recently expanded to 4 new partners: Babeș-Bolyai University, Technische Universität Dresden, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, NOVA University Lisbon.
The EUTOPIA-SIF program aims at enhancing the research potential and career perspective of outstanding young researchers from around the world. It will provide the opportunity for early career researchers to develop their independent research in the scope of an interdisciplinary scientific project, and undertake training. Fellows will be hosted by one of the partner universities of EUTOPIA and will be offered extensive mobility opportunities within EUTOPIA and beyond.
Applications are welcome in the following key research areas:
- Materials Engineering,
- Data & Intelligence,
- Health,
- Sustainability
- Welfare & Inclusion.
Interdisciplinary approaches are particularly encouraged.
Eligibility
Applications are invited from all disciplines, including Science, the Social Sciences, the Humanities and Arts in connection with the above key research areas.
The fellowship positions are open to any researcher with a doctoral degree or with at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience. Candidates must not have a permanent positionat the start of the fellowshipand must comply with the Marie-Sklodowska Curie mobility rule (table 4). No age or nationality conditions apply.

Application stage: Applications to the EUTOPIA SIF thirdcall for proposals open on 15 September 2022. The application procedure comprises 2 main steps:
•Step 1 – before 15 December 2022, 13:00 CET, applicants submit their main application material,which consists of:
- Personal information (online form)
- Academic and professional experience (online form + file upload)oResearch proposal (online form)▪Title, abstract and keywords▪Hosting choice(s)
- PhD certificate OR Proof of research experience (file upload)
- Support letters from host research groups (file upload)
- Request letters of reference (online form)
•Step 2 – before 10 January 2023, 13:00 CET,applicants submit their detailed research proposaland reference letters
- Detailed research proposal (file upload)
- Reference letters, requested duringstep 1(recommendation uploaded by the recommenders).
